New York, NEW YORK, Oct. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Teleskope, the data security platform that resolves data exposure instead of just flagging it, today announced the general availability of Kosmo, a co-pilot for data security teams. Kosmo works alongside security teams on both the daily work and the longer-term plan: it investigates exposure, builds remediation plans, recommends what to tackle next, and produces the reports and briefing materials that move governance decisions forward.
Most security teams don’t lack findings. They lack time to step back. The questions that shape a data security program, what’s worth sweeping this quarter, which data owners need a conversation, how to explain exposure to an HR leader or the board, get pushed behind the daily work. That planning depends on scarce expertise, and it rarely gets the same rigor as the fixes.
Kosmo covers both. Ask it a question in plain language and it scopes the related risk into named sets with real counts, proposes a specific action for each file, turns recurring patterns into standing policy, and builds an artifact for whoever needs to see the result, from a security engineer’s working list to a briefing deck for a conversation with an HR officer. The numbers Kosmo measures are the same numbers it acts on and reports, so nothing gets re-litigated between the finding, the fix, and the explanation.
Kosmo also doesn’t wait to be asked. Chatbot-style assistants answer the question in front of them. Kosmo points teams toward the next recommended action: the exposure worth sweeping first, the pattern worth turning into policy, the stakeholder who should see the numbers. It takes on the thinking and planning side of data security, not just the execution, and every plan ends with a person’s approval.
Key Facts
- Product: Kosmo, a co-pilot for data security teams, generally available today.
- Company: Teleskope, headquartered in New York City. Website: teleskope.ai.
- Scope: day-to-day investigation and remediation, plus longer-term governance planning and stakeholder reporting.
- Capabilities: investigation, triage, remediation planning, policy creation, and reporting, delivered by specialist agents (Search, Triage, Remediation, Policy, and Reporting) behind a single plain-language interface.
- Architecture guarantee: Kosmo has no tool that executes a change. It proposes a plan and stops. Nothing changes in a customer’s environment until a person approves it.
- Permissions: every query runs under the asking person’s own access, resolved outside the agent, which is what makes it safe to extend past the security team.
- Data handling: only classification labels, counts, and resource identifiers reach the model. File contents never do.
- Founded: 2022, by Elizabeth “Lizzy” Nammour, former Airbnb data security engineer.
Early Beta, Real Work
Before today’s release, Kosmo ran in beta with security teams at more than a dozen customer organizations, used in their day-to-day work rather than in vendor-led demos.
The work ranged from sensitive-data checks and external-exposure sweeps to retention planning and access audits. One beta customer’s security team ran a single continuous Kosmo session across six days, working backward through its own archive by creation decade to surface data nobody had reviewed in years. Another built nine separate compliance reports in an afternoon, mapping the same underlying findings against PCI DSS, CIS, CCPA, NIST, and PIPEDA in turn, work that previously meant rebuilding a view from scratch for every framework.
Built With Judgment, Not Autonomy
Kosmo cannot execute a change autonomously by design. It has no tool that writes to a customer’s environment, only tools that read, reason, and propose, a limit enforced by the system’s architecture rather than by instruction or configuration.
Within that boundary, Kosmo recommends the way an experienced practitioner would. It reaches for a data owner alert before anything destructive, prefers reversible actions over permanent ones, and proposes a specific action for each file rather than a single rule swept across many. A security team decides how far to let it go, and can start as cautiously as it wants.
Availability
Kosmo is generally available today to all Teleskope customers. Teleskope will also walk through Kosmo, along with Risk Score and Policy Ingestion, in a public product session, “How to Turn Data Risk Into Action,” on October 14, 2026.
“Every data security tool I used stopped at a dashboard, and the hardest part of the job was never the fix. It was deciding what mattered this quarter and explaining it to the people who own the data in terms they’d act on. Kosmo is the senior analyst I wish I’d had at Airbnb. It does that thinking with you, pushes you toward the next move, and stops exactly where a person needs to say yes. Security teams don’t need another chatbot waiting for a question.” — Elizabeth “Lizzy” Nammour, founder and CEO of Teleskope
